ClearStart is a national organisation created to provide free and independent advice to people with serious debt problems. Immediate support is available if you or your partner are employed and if you have debts between £5,000 and £150,000. You can seek advice if you are
ClearStart exists to help you solve debt, not just to live with it. Recommendations are based on your own situation and all advice is free. The online application process is an excellent place to start, or the ClearStart helpline is also available.
All of the major debt solutions are available through ClearStart, including the Individual Voluntary Arrangement (IVA). This is the preferred choice for many because it eliminates your debts rather than simply helping you to live with them. However, all other major choices are considered carefully before a recommendation is made.
Debt Management Plans are available and ClearStart will always ask your creditors to accept lower repayments at a level that you can comfortably and sustainably afford; to assign 100% of your contributions towards paying off your debts; and to freeze further interest.
Bankruptcy is usually regarded as a last resort, in contrast to some other advisors. Whichever solution proves best for you, a panel of Insolvency Practitioners licensed by the UK government is on hand to help you achieve a successful outcome
ClearStart does not operate 'quotas' for different debt solutions and does not depend upon payments from creditors – this is not true of some other debt advice organisations. Financial independence means that you can be confident that advice is always based on what will work best for you.
It is important to remember that everything you tell ClearStart is strictly confidential. Your details and information will never be passed on without your explicit permission.
